Recent reports have revealed that a group of individuals, totaling at least 57, are now facing state charges following a riot in El Paso County. These individuals were also found to be connected to an illegal entry into the United States on March 21.
On that fateful day, a large group of individuals, believed to be asylum-seekers, forcefully breached a barrier near the Texas border and clashed with the outnumbered Texas Army National Guard troops stationed there.
The Incident
Court records have identified individuals such as Omar Alejandro Graterol Colmenares and Jose Guillarte Acosta, both of Venezuelan nationality, who were charged with improper entry into the country. Following a brief period in federal custody, they were transferred to state custody for further legal proceedings.

Graterol, currently held on a $42,000 bond, faces state charges of riot participation and criminal mischief, while Guillarte has a bond set at $57,000 for similar charges.

Further investigations revealed that seven individuals were formally charged with riot participation on March 28, with an additional 50 individuals facing similar charges on March 29.
Efforts to obtain comments from the Texas Department of Public Safety regarding potential pending charges against other defendants have been unsuccessful thus far.
