The Tragic Incidents
On March 26, a somber day for the MTA, two fatal incidents occurred at different subway stations in Brooklyn. The first victim, identified as 26-year-old Flatbush resident Travis McIntyre, was struck by a southbound Q train at the Beverley Road station in Flatbush in the early afternoon. Sadly, paramedics declared McIntyre deceased at the scene of the accident.
Hours later, tragedy struck again at the 4th Avenue-9th Street station in Park Slope. 16-year-old Neisa Herod-Cross was found unconscious and unresponsive on the tracks after being hit by a southbound G train while walking along the tracks. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both incidents, along with other recent subway-related deaths, have sparked concerns among commuters and authorities.
Investigation and Response
Authorities confirmed that McIntyre’s death was a suicide, while the circumstances surrounding Herod-Cross’s death are still under investigation. Police reports indicate that the group of teens Herod-Cross was with fled the scene after the tragic incident.
