Three Arrested in Connection with Box Elder Shooting Deaths
Authorities in Great Falls have arrested three individuals in connection with the tragic shooting deaths of two men in Box Elder. The incident occurred in the parking lot of D&L Bar in the early hours of Thursday, March 28, 2024.
Details of the Incident
According to Hill County Sheriff Jamie Ross, deputies were alerted to reports of gunshots at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival at the scene, deputies discovered two men who had been shot at the gas pumps. The victims, Darin Bernard Caplette, 41, and Thomas Roderick Yallup, 42, both residents of the Rocky Boy Reservation, were rushed to a medical facility but sadly succumbed to their injuries.
Targeted Assault
Sheriff Ross has described the shooting as a “targeted assault” directed at the victims. The motive behind the attack is still under investigation, but initial information suggests that the victims were specifically targeted by the assailants.

Suspects in Custody
The Hill County Sheriff’s Office has announced that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the shooting. Castillo Haffley, 18, has been charged with deliberate homicide, while Angelo Hawk Sanchez, 18, faces a similar charge of deliberate homicide by accountability. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy, whose identity has not been disclosed, is also facing a charge of deliberate homicide.

The two adults arrested in connection with the shooting are reported to be from Corning in northern California.
