She recounted the harrowing moment when the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Franz Jeudy, approached her and delivered a brutal sucker punch to her face. The attack was captured on video, showing the suspect ignoring another passerby before zeroing in on Pichardo.

As a result of the assault, Pichardo suffered multiple fractures to her face, requiring her mouth to be wired shut for six weeks. She also sustained permanent damage to her lower lip and lost three teeth in the attack. The severity of her injuries may necessitate surgery in the future.

Following the assault, Pichardo’s brother and an employee from his restaurant across the street pursued the suspect, eventually apprehending him several blocks away. Jeudy was arrested by police and charged with misdemeanor assault. Despite his history of seven prior arrests for assault charges, he is not eligible for bail, leaving Pichardo and her family feeling frustrated and fearful.
