Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting Over “Bad” Methamphetamine in San Antonio

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in January in San Antonio. Michael Jasso, 18, was taken into custody and charged with murder, unlawful carrying of a handgun in a motor vehicle, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on January 26 at a residence in the 1000 block of San Luis Street on the West Side of the city. The victim, Mando Rodriguez, 43, was fatally shot during a confrontation over the quality of methamphetamine he was selling. Two other suspects, James Guerra, 39, and Matthew Fitzgerald Williams, 18, were previously charged with murder in connection with the same incident.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Rodriguez had been communicating with Guerra to sell him methamphetamine. On the night of the shooting, Guerra arrived at Rodriguez’s home with Williams and Jasso. The suspects accused Rodriguez of selling “bad” methamphetamine, leading to a heated confrontation that ended in violence.

Identification and Arrest

A witness to the incident provided crucial information to the police, identifying one of the suspects as “Doughboy.” Through phone and Cash App records, authorities were able to identify Guerra as “Doughboy.” On January 28, deputies conducted surveillance on Guerra’s residence and managed to apprehend Jasso as he tried to flee the scene.

Additional Incident

In the separate incident, 31-year-old Albert Anthony Soliz was found dead in the 9500 block of S WW White Road. Sheriff Javier Salazar stated that the shooting stemmed from a robbery, further highlighting the violent nature of crime in the area.

The arrests made in these cases represent a significant step towards justice for the victims and their families. The San Antonio Police Department continues to investigate these incidents to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

Overall, the community is relieved to see progress being made in these cases and hopes for a safer future for all residents of San Antonio.
