BALTIMORE, Md. – Recovery efforts are currently underway in Baltimore, Maryland, following the tragic collapse of the Key Bridge on Tuesday morning. Divers are tirelessly searching for six construction workers who are presumed dead after the devastating incident.

As of Wednesday evening, Maryland State Police Colonel Roland L. Butler, Jr. confirmed that two victims have been recovered from the wreckage. The individuals have been identified as 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, a resident of Baltimore, and 26-year-old Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera from Dundalk.

Col. Butler revealed that the bodies of the construction workers were found inside a red pickup truck approximately 25 feet deep in the middle of the Patapsco River.

Identification of the Victims

The construction crew, employed by Brawner Builders, tragically lost six of its members in the bridge collapse. The missing workers are believed to have perished due to the water’s depth and the time elapsed since the incident.

One of the victims, 40-year-old Miguel Luna from El Salvador, has been honoured by a Baltimore organization. Luna had been a resident of Maryland for over 19 years and was a cherished member of the community.

Amidst the heartbreaking news, it has been confirmed by the Embassy of Mexico that three of the missing workers are Mexican nationals. One individual, originally from Michoacán, was rescued alive and is currently recovering from his injuries, while the other two, from Veracruz and Michoacán, remain unaccounted for.

Additionally, Guatemala’s consulate in Maryland has verified that two Guatemalan citizens were among the missing workers. The Honduran man, identified as Maynor Suazo Sandoval, 34, from Owings Mills, was also an active member of the community.
