A man identified as Usman Abubakar reportedly died during a fight that occurred at Isale Koko, Ojagboro area, Ilorin in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident, which happened last Wednesday and claimed the life of the deceased, was a result of the combat between him (the deceased) and another man identified as one Omotosho Jimoh of Elekoyangan area, Oke-Suna, Ilorin, who is now at large. The incident, according to the police, was a result of a minor issue that degenerated into combat and later led to the death of Usman. The Kwara State Police Command is currently investigating the matter.

Man Dies in Fatal Fight in Isale Koko, Ilorin, Kwara State

A tragic incident unfolded in Isale Koko, Ojagboro area, Ilorin, Kwara State, where a man identified as Usman Abubakar lost his life during a violent altercation. The altercation, which took place last Wednesday, resulted in the untimely death of the deceased following a physical confrontation with another individual known as Omotosho Jimoh, who hails from Elekoyangan area, Oke-Suna, Ilorin.

The unfortunate incident, as reported by the police, stemmed from a minor disagreement between Usman and Omotosho, which escalated into a full-blown fight and ultimately led to Usman’s demise.

According to a statement released by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, the Kwara State Police Command was deeply saddened by the incident, which occurred on March 20, 2024, in Ilorin. The report indicated that the altercation between Usman and Omotosho turned fatal, resulting in Usman collapsing during the scuffle and subsequently being rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police Investigation and Pursuit of Suspect

Following the distressing turn of events, Mr. Adebayo Ahmed, a resident of Isale Koko, Ojagboro, Ilorin, reported the incident involving his son, Usman Abubakar, to the authorities. The police promptly launched an investigation into the matter, revealing that Omotosho Jimoh, the other party involved in the altercation, is currently at large.

Similar Incidents in Recent Times

Unfortunately, incidents of fatal altercations have been reported in various parts of the country in recent times. In March 2023, a similar incident occurred in Lagos State, where a male adult slumped and passed away during an argument over a parking space at a supermarket on Admiralty Way in the Lekki area.

In another incident in October 2023, operatives of the Edo State Police Command arrested a 21-year-old man named Ononomeh Badamasi in connection with the death of a 52-year-old man, Orumidayo Awolowo, who had gone to demand money owed to him.

Similarly, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed last month that a man, Adebayo Adeseko, and his girlfriend, Sarah Adesanya, tragically lost their lives after a heated altercation in their apartment.
