According to SEB officials, Brahmaiah has about five acres of land where he cultivates various crops throughout the year. After facing heavy losses due to untimely rains and other factors, he planted 282 cannabis plants in his red gram field. However, his actions were reported to the special enforcement bureau, leading to an inspection of his farm. SEB officials estimated the value of the plants to be around 3 lakh and subsequently uprooted and destroyed the entire crop. Brahmaiah was arrested and produced in court.
