Community Comes Together for Good Citizen Clean-up Day in Meridian, Mississippi

Meridian, Mississippi, was buzzing with activity as residents and volunteers gathered for the city’s second Good Citizen Clean-up Day. Sponsored by Keep Meridian Lauderdale County Beautiful, the event aimed to make the community a cleaner and more beautiful place to live.

A Community-Wide Effort

From 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers from all walks of life came together at various locations around the city to pick up litter and debris. Craig Wilkes, from the City of Meridian Community Development, highlighted the importance of the program in bringing people together for a common cause.

“The great thing about this program is that you can choose an assigned location or pick a spot of your own choice. Many people focused on areas like churches, schools, and neighbourhoods. It’s a community-wide project that instills a sense of pride and ownership in our surroundings,” said Wilkes.

Celebrating Community Spirit

After a productive morning of cleaning up, volunteers gathered at Highland Park for an after clean-up party to celebrate their efforts. Laughter and camaraderie filled the air as participants shared stories and bonded over their shared goal of beautifying Meridian.
