In a strange incident, a woman attempted to steal a gold chain from a visually impaired person and resorted to trying to chew it off.

On Thursday morning, 68-year-old Sargunam boarded an MTC bus in Sennerikuppam, located in the Chengalpet district. During the journey, she noticed a woman seated behind her, who appeared to be leaning against her as if asleep. However, it soon became apparent that the woman, identified as 28-year-old Nisha from Pune, was not asleep but rather engaging in a deceptive act.

Nisha, known to be a habitual offender in robbery incidents, attempted to discreetly remove Sargunam’s gold necklace by chewing it, while pretending to lean on her. Sensing the tugging on her necklace, Sargunam quickly realized the situation and raised an alarm, shouting for help.

Alerted by her cries, other passengers intervened and caught Nisha in the act of trying to snatch the chain. Upon apprehension, Nisha was handed over to the Chengalpet police for further investigation and legal action.
