MANILA, Philippines — A 19-year-old man involved in a shooting incident was arrested during a follow-up operation in Quezon City and yielded over P100,000 worth of suspected crystal meth or shabu, according to police.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Sunday identified the suspect as France Elnar Talino, who was apprehended along Seminary Road, Barangay Bahay Toro, last March 22.

The QCPD said it launched an operation against Talino after receiving a report from one of his victims, identified as Alexander who received an alleged death threat.

Further investigation also showed that Talino was also a suspect of a manhunt operation by the elements of Talipapa Police Station for a shooting incident in January this year and a car theft incident in September 2023.

Recovered from Talino were a handgun, ammunition, and 15 grams of shabu worth around P102,000.

Talino is currently under police custody and will face a formal complaint for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act; RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and grave threat before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

Residents of Seminary Road, Barangay Bahay Toro were shocked by the presence of law enforcement officers in their usually quiet neighborhood. The arrest of Talino has brought a sense of relief to the community, knowing that a potentially dangerous individual is now in custody.

Local authorities have commended the swift action taken by the QCPD in apprehending Talino and ensuring the safety of the residents in the area. They urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge regarding the motives behind Talino’s alleged criminal activities and any possible accomplices he may have had. The community is hopeful that justice will be served and that peace will be restored in their neighborhood.
