The town of Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, India, witnessed a dramatic turn of events on Saturday when the police engaged in a fierce encounter with a notorious criminal, Lalit Kumar. The incident took place on Shergarh-Koshi Road, near village Khadwai, in the wee hours of the morning, resulting in the arrest of the 28-year-old culprit.

**Arrest of Lalit Kumar**

In a joint operation conducted by the Shergarh police station and a team of Special Cell/SR, Lalit Kumar was apprehended after a brief exchange of fire. The encounter occurred at approximately 00:55 am, leading to the arrest of the accused who sustained a bullet injury in his left leg. Three rounds were fired by the criminal, while Sub-Inspector Sumit fired one shot in self-defence.

**Seizure of Weapons**

During the arrest, the police recovered a pistol of .32 bore with five live cartridges from Lalit Kumar. Additionally, a Splendour motorcycle without a number plate was confiscated from the accused. Three empty 7.65 mm shells, fired by Lalit Kumar, were also found at the scene of the encounter.

**Criminal History of Lalit Kumar**

Lalit Kumar, a notorious criminal, has a long history of criminal activities. He has been involved in more than 19 cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, NDPS, illegal firearms, thefts, and kidnapping. Hailing from the Amit Rana @ Jimmy gang of Delhi, Lalit Kumar is known for his heinous crimes in the Delhi/NCR region.

One of his most infamous crimes was the abduction and murder of Chunnu Gupta from a rival gang in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. The brutal killing took place in Khair, Aligarh, in 2015, where the gang attempted to burn the body in an Innova car. Lalit Kumar and his accomplices have also been involved in robbing people while posing as police officers and committing cyber fraud.
