An Upper Darby woman has been in the spotlight recently for a disturbing case of animal cruelty that has shocked the community. Anigar Monsee, 28, was charged with torturing animals for likes on social media, a heinous act that has garnered widespread condemnation.

Arrest and Investigation

Monsee’s arrest on January 20 came after Upper Darby detectives received reports from the animal rights organization PETA about a content creator in the township engaging in animal abuse on her YouTube channel. The YouTube account, known as “Motheranddaughter,” featured graphic videos of a woman torturing animals in unimaginable ways.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Upper Darby Detective Kevin Gamber, Monsee was seen in the videos torturing animals by slowly disemboweling them while they were still alive. She was also accused of severing the animals’ necks with a dull knife, causing them immense suffering.

Graphic Content

One particularly disturbing video allegedly showed Monsee carving open three live frogs’ stomachs and removing their organs while singing a twisted version of “Happy Birthday.” Other videos depicted similar acts of cruelty towards rabbits, a pigeon, and a chicken.

She is now scheduled for a pretrial conference before Common Pleas Court Judge Mary Alice Brennan on April 29. Her bail was reduced to $200,000 unsecured, and she is currently on GPS monitoring.

Despite the disturbing nature of the videos, Bernhardt expressed hope that Monsee’s prosecution would send a strong message against animal cruelty. He emphasised the importance of holding individuals accountable for such inhumane acts.
