A Burke County man, Eric Harlan Queen, was arrested for stealing musical instruments from First Baptist Icard church in Connelly Springs, North Carolina. The pastor reported the break-in on March 16, and surveillance footage showed Queen making two trips to the church. Detectives found stolen items in Queen’s bedroom and linked him to other crimes in the area. Queen turned himself in later that evening and was charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. He also had an outstanding warrant for unlawful use of game land access. Queen received a $30,500 bond and appeared in court on Thursday.

Burke County Man Arrested for Stealing Musical Instruments from Church

A Burke County man, identified as 28-year-old Eric Harlan Queen of Connelly Springs, was arrested on March 18 for stealing musical instruments from a local church, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

Church Burglary

The incident took place at First Baptist Icard church located on U.S. 70 SW. The pastor of the church reported to deputies that on March 16, someone had broken into the building and stolen various items from the sanctuary. Surveillance footage revealed that the suspect had made two separate trips to the church, changing clothes between visits.

Following leads, Burke County authorities responded to the 3500 block of Icard Rhodhiss Road, where they received information that the suspect and stolen property were likely within a residence in the area. Upon entering the residence with a search warrant, investigators discovered multiple items reported stolen from the church in a bedroom belonging to Queen.

Additional Charges

Further investigation inside the residence revealed evidence linking Queen to additional breaking and entering and larcenies in the area. Later that evening, Queen returned to the residence and surrendered himself to deputies without incident.

Queen was charged with felony breaking and entering to a place of worship, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony possession of stolen goods. The stolen property was returned to the pastor of First Baptist Icard. Additionally, Queen had an outstanding warrant for misdemeanor unlawful use of a game land access area.

Court Appearance and Bond

Queen appeared in court on Thursday and was given a total bond of $30,500. The swift action by Burke County authorities led to the recovery of the stolen property and the arrest of the suspect, bringing a sense of relief to the community.
