A 19-year-old youth, identified as Dhruv Thakkar, a first-year student at the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, met with a fatal accident when he fell onto the metro tracks at around 2:10 pm. Unfortunately, he was hit by an oncoming metro train and lost his life instantly.

The disruption caused by the incident led to a partial shutdown of services on the Bengaluru Metro’s Purple Line between Magadi Road and Challaghatta. Trains were only running between Magadi Road and Whitefield until the authorities cleared the tracks and resumed normal operations. This is not the first time such an incident has occurred on the Namma Metro.
Earlier this year, on January 5, a 23-year-old passenger attempted suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at Jalahalli Metro Station, causing disruptions on the Green Line services for nearly an hour. Similarly, on January 1, metro operations were halted for 15 minutes at Indira Nagar station when a woman jumped onto the tracks to retrieve her phone. These incidents highlight the need for increased safety measures and awareness around metro stations.
