The driver, identified as 28-year-old Trenton Davis, was apprehended by authorities on Wednesday.
Initial Traffic Stop
The sequence of events began when a deputy from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a white Ford F-250 with obscured plates and a malfunctioning brake light on State Highway 9 around 2:15 a.m. on January 3. Davis, the driver of the vehicle, provided false identification and claimed his license had been stolen. The female passenger in the car also presented false identification.

Upon discovering that the vehicle matched a stolen vehicle report from Pontotoc County, the deputy requested backup. As the deputy waited for assistance, Davis became agitated and fled the scene, leading the deputy on a high-speed chase through nearby neighborhoods. The pursuit was eventually called off when the suspect vehicle disappeared in a cloud of dust.
Shortly after, a crash was reported east of 192nd Avenue near Alameda Street. Deputies responded to find the stolen vehicle in pieces in a creek bed on the south side of the road.
