Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon has reported the arrest of Rebecca Marie Freer, 40, of 192 Mallard Street, Morgan City, LA, on multiple felony charges related to a check scheme at a Pierre Part retail outlet. Detectives began investigating forged checks cashed at the business on February 9, 2024. It was discovered that in November 2023, three individuals cashed forged checks at the establishment. One of these individuals was identified as Rebecca Marie Freer. She was arrested by the Morgan City Police Department on March 16, 2024, and transferred to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on March 20, 2024. Freer faces charges including Monetary Instrument Abuse, Forgery, Access Device Fraud, Bank Fraud, and Identity Theft. She remains in custody pending a bond hearing, as the investigation continues.

Arrest Made in Pierre Part Retail Check Scheme

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon has announced the arrest of Rebecca Marie Freer, 40, in connection with a check scheme at a Pierre Part retail outlet. The incident, which took place on February 9, 2024, involved forged checks being cashed at the business.

According to Sheriff Falcon, detectives began their investigation after receiving reports of forged checks being used at the establishment. It was discovered that in November of 2023, three individuals had entered the business and cashed checks that were later found to be forged. Rebecca Marie Freer was identified as one of the individuals involved in this scheme.

On March 16, 2024, Freer was arrested by the Morgan City Police Department on local charges. She was subsequently released into the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on March 20, 2024. Freer was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges including Monetary Instrument Abuse, Forgery, Access Device Fraud, Bank Fraud, and Identity Theft.

As of now, Rebecca Marie Freer remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
