After the shooting, Meade and the suspect made their escape and were last spotted fleeing the scene in a gray four-door sedan, believed to be a Honda Civic. Boise police swiftly responded to reports of an active shooter at the hospital, prompting a modified lockdown of the facility. In the chaos that ensued, one of the responding officers fired at an armed individual at the hospital entrance, later identified as an Idaho Department of Corrections officer who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Previous Criminal History

Skylar Meade, the escaped inmate at the center of the manhunt, has a history of violent offenses. In 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison after firing multiple shots at law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase following a traffic stop.
