The Uber driver, identified as Muhammad Khan, was dropping off four passengers at an apartment complex. The passengers included two adult women and two children, one of whom was a two-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in the accident.

The Unfortunate Sequence of Events

As the passengers were exiting the vehicle, the toddler wandered in front of the car, unbeknownst to Khan. When he began to drive forward, the child was struck by the vehicle. Despite Khan stopping the car, the toddler became trapped underneath the rear left tire.

Witnesses at the scene tried to assist in freeing the child from beneath the vehicle. However, the situation escalated when some individuals began to assault Khan and pull him from the car, hindering his attempts to move the vehicle and free the child.

Efforts to Save the Child

An unknown male eventually managed to move the car, allowing the child to be transported to a nearby gas station in a private vehicle to meet with emergency medical personnel. First responders performed “lifesaving measures” on the toddler before rushing her to HCA – Kingwood Medical Center.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff, the child was pronounced dead at the hospital. Khan, who remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the assault and was taken to HCA Houston Northwest Hospital for treatment.
