Details emerge in gruesome murder case in Southern California

It has been over four months since the discovery of a woman’s dismembered torso in a trash bin in Encino, Southern California, and new details have emerged shedding light on the tragic death of 37-year-old Mei Li Haskell.

Initially found on November 8, 2023, the remains were positively identified the following month. The autopsy report revealed that the cause of death has been marked as “deferred,” but the manner of death was determined to be a homicide.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s report described Haskell’s remains as missing her head, majority of the neck, and all four extremities. The report also noted that the amputation sites appeared to have been done with precision, indicating the use of a sharp power tool.

While there was no clear indication that the dismemberment occurred before death, the possibility that the removal of the head and neck had begun prior to death could not be ruled out, according to the report.
