25-year-old Ramiro Marcelo Cruz from Charlotte was arrested on Monday (18th March) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He has been charged with felony attempted first-degree burglary and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing.

Following a 911 call reporting a break-in in progress, officers quickly identified Cruz’s vehicle parked nearby. Cruz attempted to hide in the rear passenger area of the truck but was positively identified. Further investigation revealed footprints and pry marks on the front door, as well as a removed rear window screen.

Cruz was taken to Burke County Jail and placed under a 48-hour hold. He was scheduled for a first appearance in District Court on Monday.

A 25-year-old man from Charlotte found himself in hot water on Monday when he was apprehended by Morganton Public Safety Officers. Ramiro Marcelo Cruz is facing charges of felony attempted first-degree burglary and misdemeanor second-degree trespassing following a disturbing incident.

The incident unfolded when officers from the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to a 911 call reporting a break-in in progress. The caller, who happened to be the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, claimed that Cruz was trying to gain entry to her home using what appeared to be power tools. The officers wasted no time in arriving at the scene and were able to spot the suspect’s vehicle parked nearby.

Identification and Arrest

Upon closer inspection, officers discovered Cruz attempting to conceal himself in the rear passenger area of the truck. He was swiftly identified and detained. Further investigation of the property revealed footprints and pry marks on the front door, along with a removed rear window screen. These findings pointed to Cruz’s attempted burglary.

Legal Proceedings

Following his arrest, Cruz was taken to the Burke County Jail and placed under a 48-hour hold until a judge could be consulted. As of today, March 19, he is no longer listed as an inmate in Burke County. A first appearance in District Court was scheduled for Monday to address the charges brought against him.
