ALDINE, Texas – A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Aldine, Texas, when a one-year-old girl lost her life in a devastating accident involving an Uber driver. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon at around 12:40 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex along Waverly Drive.
The Tragic Accident
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the Uber driver had just dropped off a group of passengers, consisting of three adults and the one-year-old girl. As the adults made their way towards the apartment complex, the toddler was unfortunately walking in front of the gray Volkswagen SUV.
Lt. K Benoit of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office explained, “When the Uber driver observed the female adult clear a couple of feet in front of the vehicle, he began to drive forward in order to turn around, inadvertently rolling over the child.”
Family’s Desperate Attempt to Save the Child
The family immediately sprung into action, trying to rescue the little girl and rushing her to the hospital. They managed to flag down an emergency vehicle nearby, which swiftly transported the child to the hospital. Tragically, despite the efforts made, the one-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries.

Chaotic Aftermath
In the moments following the horrific incident, family members lashed out in anguish by opening the doors of the SUV and assaulting the driver. The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The commotion outside prompted neighbours, such as Simya Washington, to emerge from their homes and witness the distressing scene. Washington, whose security camera captured the unfolding events, expressed the shock and trauma she experienced, empathising with the child’s family.
Investigation Underway
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has refrained from pressing charges against either the Uber driver or the individuals who attacked him. Lt. Benoit stated, “At present, no charges have been filed. However, the incident remains under investigation, and charges may be brought forth in due course.”
Identifying the Parties Involved
The driver involved in the tragic accident has been identified as Muhammad Khan. As of now, the identity of the young girl has not been disclosed.
