Authorities in Davie, Fla., have released body-worn camera footage of a fatal police shooting that occurred at a home on Southwest 24th Street. The incident involved officers responding to a medical call when Steven Amann, a man at the scene, confronted them. Despite attempts to communicate with Amann, he became nonverbal and eventually pointed an object at the officers, prompting them to shoot him. It is unclear whether the object was a gun. Amann was taken to a hospital where he later died. The officers involved have been identified as Sergeant Steve Lambert, Officer Matthew Correa, and Officer Jarrett Wheeler, who are currently on administrative leave pending investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

DAVIE, Fla. – Body-Worn Camera Footage Released of Fatal Police Shooting
Authorities in Davie, Florida, have recently made public the body-worn camera footage of a tragic police shooting that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning. The incident took place at a residence in the 14500 block of Southwest 24th Street, where Davie police had responded to a medical call.
The situation quickly escalated when an unidentified man, later identified as Steven Amann, confronted officers as they were attending to a patient at the scene. Despite attempts by the officers to engage with Amann and ascertain his presence in the home, he remained mostly nonverbal and unresponsive to their inquiries.
According to police reports, the encounter turned fatal when Amann suddenly reached behind his back, moved towards a concealed area, and assumed a shooting stance, pointing an object at the officers. In response to the perceived threat, the officers discharged their weapons, resulting in Amann being shot.

Emergency medical personnel on the scene provided immediate care to Amann before transporting him to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. The officers involved in the shooting were identified as Sergeant Steve Lambert, Officer Matthew Correa, and Officer Jarrett Wheeler, all of whom have been placed on standard administrative leave pending an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
