Nunez noted that the attack was directly linked to the death of an 18-year-old in a police chase that took place on Wednesday evening.

The victim, identified as Wanys R, hailing from La Courneuve, had refused to halt for a police check in the neighbouring town of Aubervilliers. Tragically, he was struck by another police car as he attempted to flee on his scooter. The heart-wrenching accident was captured on video and widely circulated online. Wanys succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, while his scooter passenger is currently receiving medical treatment.

The individuals involved in targeting the police station on Sunday night were evidently from the same neighbourhood where Wanys resided, according to Nunez. Among those arrested were seven adults aged between 18 and 21 years old, along with two minors. Additionally, two police officers sustained minor injuries during the assault.
