Youtuber Elvish Yadav Arrested in Connection with Snake Venom Case

Popular Youtuber Elvish Yadav found himself in hot water when he was arrested by Noida police on Sunday. The arrest was made in connection with a probe into the suspected use of snake venom as a recreational drug at a party that took place four months ago in Noida.

Arrest and Court Appearance

Following his arrest, Yadav was produced in a special court in Surajpur. The 26-year-old social media influencer, who shot to fame after winning the reality show Bigg Boss OTT, was then sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Details of the Case

Yadav was among six individuals named in an FIR lodged at Noida’s Sector 49 police station back on November 3 last year. While the five other accused, who were identified as snake charmers, were arrested in November, they are currently out on bail. The case was registered under various provisions, including the Wildlife Protection Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Investigation and Evidence

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida) Vidya Sagar Mishra stated that Yadav was arrested after sufficient evidence, including links to the NDPS Act, was found in the case. The Noida police confirmed that during the investigation, samples collected were confirmed by a forensic laboratory to be “snake venom.”

Legal Proceedings

Yadav, a resident of Haryana’s Gurugram, has denied the charges against him. However, he has been questioned by the police in the past. The case, initially registered at Sector 49 police station, was later transferred to Sector 20 police station for further investigation. Yadav was then produced in front of the Remand Magistrate and subsequently sent to Luksar jail in Greater Noida.

Accusations and Allegations

Animal rights group People For Animals (PFA) played a significant role in the case, with PFA chairperson and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi accusing Yadav of involvement in illegally selling snake venom. The incident took place at a banquet hall in Sector 51, where five people were arrested, and nine snakes, including five cobras, were rescued.

Continued Investigation

Despite not being present at the party hall where the arrests were made, police are still probing Yadav’s role in the case. The Youtuber was briefly questioned by police in Rajasthan’s Kota on November 4 while traveling with friends in a car.

As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to come to light regarding the use of snake venom as a recreational drug at the party in Noida.
