Andre Gordon, 26, surrendered peacefully after a violent rampage that began with a carjacking in Trenton and ended in a Philadelphia suburb. Tragic Incident Unfolds in Trenton, New Jersey

In a shocking turn of events, a tragic incident unfolded in Trenton, New Jersey, where an “extremely dangerous” suspect was taken into custody after allegedly shooting dead three family members. The suspect, identified as Andre Gordon, 26, sparked a trail of violence that led to shelter-in-place orders in two states.

Carjacking and Violence Spread Across State Lines

The day began with Gordon carjacking a vehicle in Trenton before driving approximately 65 kilometres to the northern Philadelphia suburb of Levittown. There, he allegedly killed two people, identified as his 52-year-old stepmother and his 13-year-old sister. Three other individuals in the house managed to hide as Gordon searched for them.

Subsequently, Gordon drove to a nearby residence where he broke in and shot and killed a 25-year-old woman, identified as the mother of his two children. He then proceeded to bludgeon her mother with the butt of his rifle. Fortunately, the mother was expected to recover from her injuries.

Standoff in Trenton Ends in Arrest

After carjacking another vehicle, Gordon fled back to Trenton where police believed he had barricaded himself in a three-story house. Described as “extremely dangerous” and armed with an assault rifle, the suspect was urged to surrender for several hours.

Ultimately, Gordon was located at another location in Trenton and taken into custody without incident. Police Director Steve Wilson confirmed that Gordon was uninjured and walking in the street when he was approached by a patrol officer. Thankfully, individuals in the house where Gordon was believed to be barricaded were successfully evacuated with no injuries.

Multi-Agency Response to Cross-State Crime

Given that the suspect crossed state lines during the course of the crime, federal authorities such as the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were involved in the investigation. Alongside local, county, and state police, armed SWAT officers were seen assisting in the evacuation of individuals from the location where Gordon was thought to be hiding.
