Accident – Death – Obituary News : Coimbatore: A 64-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for murdering his paramour over a dispute at Madukkarai late on Friday night. Police identified the arrested as A Petchimuthu, of Arisipalayam near Madukkarai. The deceased was identified as S Vasanthakumari, 41, of Madukkarai.

Police said Petchimuthu, a private security guard, had separated from his wife Velathal, 56, and children, Saravanakumar, 35, and Revathi, 30, around two years ago. He later developed a relationship with Vasanthakumari. Vasanthakumari, who was working in a private company in the locality, was living with her two sons who are studying in Class XII and Class X at a government school. Her husband had died of cardiac arrest 13 years ago.

Petchimuthu and Vasanthakumari were neighbors and developed a relationship when she often visited his house. Recently, Petchimuthu suspected that Vasanthakumari had developed a relationship with someone else as she was often seen speaking over the phone.

Around 11.45 pm on Friday, an argument broke out between Vasanthakumari and Petchimuthu when she visited his house. In a fit of rage, Petchimuthu hit the woman with a wooden log and assaulted her with a machete. Hearing Vasanthakumari’s cries for help, her neighbor Kavitha rushed to the house. Kavitha alerted police after she found Vasanthakumari lying in a pool of blood and Petchimuthu with blood stains on his clothes. Vasanthakumari succumbed to the injuries at the house. Further investigation is on.
