Accident – Death – Obituary News : A Grygla man was apprehended on Saturday morning following a high-speed chase that culminated in a collision with a law enforcement vehicle in Beltrami County, as reported by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office. Jason Moe, aged 52, faces charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle, first-degree assault involving the use of deadly force against a peace officer, second-degree driving while impaired, and obstruction with force.

The incident unfolded when a Beltrami County deputy and a Blackduck officer observed a vehicle stationary at an intersection in Blackduck, failing to move despite the absence of oncoming traffic. The vehicle then resumed its journey, signaling a turn but failing to execute it. Law enforcement attempted to pull the vehicle over, prompting the driver, later identified as Moe, to accelerate southbound on Highway 71. Moe reportedly reached speeds of up to 100 mph before heading east on Hines Road.

In a bid to halt Moe’s reckless flight, a Minnesota State Trooper and a deputy deployed tire deflation devices. Despite sustaining damage from hitting the devices, Moe continued driving for approximately eight miles. The situation escalated when Moe allegedly attempted to collide head-on with a Bemidji squad car at the intersection of Farley Drive and Highway 71. The quick manoeuvring of the officer behind the wheel averted a direct impact, but the squad car sustained a blow to its driver’s side rear.

Subsequently, Moe veered off the road and brought his vehicle to a stop in a ditch. Following his apprehension, Moe was taken to the hospital for medical evaluation before being placed under arrest. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
