The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested two individuals in connection with the attack on overseas students at Gujarat University Hostel. The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has taken swift action by arresting two accused persons in connection with the recent attack on overseas students at the Gujarat University Hostel. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, involved a group of 20-25 individuals who allegedly assaulted foreign students, vandalized hostel rooms, and pelted stones while the students were offering Namaz.

According to Zone 7 Deputy Commissioner of Police Tarun Duggal, a FIR was registered against the perpetrators, and nine teams were immediately formed to apprehend the accused. Two of the suspects, identified as Hitesh Mewada and Bharat Patel, have already been arrested, with search operations ongoing to capture the remaining individuals involved in the attack.
Response from Authorities
Speaking about the incident, Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police, GS Malik, stated that the law and order situation is now under control, and actions will be taken against those responsible for the violence. The Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University, Neerja Arun Gupta, emphasized that the police and government are treating the matter seriously, with an investigation underway to determine the circumstances that led to the clash.
MEA’s Involvement
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also intervened in the matter, confirming that they are in contact with the Gujarat government regarding the incident. The MEA assured that the state government is taking strict action against the perpetrators and that two foreign students who were injured during the clash are receiving necessary medical attention.
University’s Statement
Describing the sequence of events, the Vice Chancellor highlighted that the clash occurred between two groups, resulting in injuries to some foreign students. The university has registered an FIR, and the police are investigating the incident, which has garnered attention due to viral videos capturing the attack.
