In a separate incident, a man named R Arivazhagan was arrested by Tiruppur rural police for spreading false rumors about child trafficking on social media. Arrests Made in Coimbatore and Tiruppur for Assault and Spreading Rumours

In a recent incident in Coimbatore, three individuals were arrested by Pollachi East police for allegedly assaulting a man they suspected to be part of a child trafficking gang. The arrested individuals, P Thamban, alias Rajendran (35); K Guna (27); and Karuppusamy (25), all residents of Thannasiyappan Kovil Street at Pollachi, were taken into custody. Rajendran, who works as a sanitary worker at the Pollachi Municipal office, was among those arrested.

The victim, S Vignesh (29), a resident of Naduvakurichi village in Thoothukudi district, has been working in a fruit shop in Pollachi for the past six years. The incident occurred on Friday evening around 8.45 pm when Vignesh was on his way to the shop. The three individuals, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attacked Vignesh, believing him to be involved in child trafficking. Vignesh was later admitted to Pollachi government hospital for treatment.

Following Vignesh’s complaint, the Pollachi East police initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the three suspects. They were remanded to judicial custody after being arrested on Saturday morning.

Further Arrest in Tiruppur for Spreading False Information

In a separate incident in Tiruppur, a man named R Arivazhagan from Moolanur was arrested by Tiruppur rural police for spreading rumours about child trafficking on social media. Arivazhagan allegedly circulated fake video messages on social media, claiming that a migrant worker had been assaulted for child trafficking.

The Tiruppur rural cybercrime police registered a case against Arivazhagan under sections 153 and 505 (1) (b) of the Indian Penal Code. He was taken into custody on Saturday and remanded to judicial custody.
