According to police statements, the altercation that led to the stabbing stemmed from a physical argument between Saquic-Saquic and his roommate and neighbour, Alvaro Martin-Perez, aged 48. The situation quickly escalated into violence, resulting in Martin-Perez sustaining multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he tragically succumbed to his injuries, leaving a void in the community.

Another roommate, a 35-year-old man, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and received medical treatment at a local hospital.
