Man Charged with Multiple Offences Following Disturbance in Bradford County

Bradford County

A 37-year-old man, Timothy Lee Vanhousen, is facing a slew of charges including burglary, trespassing, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, harassment, driving at an unsafe speed, obscuring registration plate, and failure to signal after an incident that took place in Monroe Township on February 27, 2024.

According to court documents, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a call at approximately 8:45 a.m. on February 27 at a residence on Marcy Hill Rd. in Monroe Township regarding a suspicious individual, later identified as Vanhousen.

The victim reported to the authorities that the man had allegedly gained entry into the home through an unlocked rear doorway and was discovered by the homeowner. The individual was said to be muttering to himself before being confronted and subsequently followed out of the property.

Law enforcement conducted a thorough search of the area but did not locate the suspect at that time. However, later in the day, the victim contacted PSP Towanda again to report that the man was parked in the driveway of the victim’s neighbors, who were away on vacation.

Upon being confronted by the homeowner at the neighbor’s property, Vanhousen was allegedly attempting to access a truck parked on the premises. The situation escalated when the suspect shoved the victim before fleeing to his vehicle.

As the victim warned Vanhousen that the police had been alerted, the suspect reportedly exhibited erratic behavior by gripping the steering wheel tightly, visibly shaking, before accelerating towards the victim and their family. Fortunately, the suspect veered away from the family, avoiding a direct confrontation.

Vanhousen then fled the scene in a reckless manner, driving at high speeds and posing a danger to other road users. Through collaborative efforts with additional troopers, the authorities were able to identify Vanhousen based on a prior trespassing incident that occurred the day before, where video evidence of his presence was captured.

Subsequently, Vanhousen was apprehended by troopers on February 29, 2024, for a separate burglary and trespassing offence. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Bradford County Correctional Facility.

Following his arrest, Vanhousen was brought before Magisterial District Judge Carr on March 13 for the additional charges. His bail was set at £50,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 27 at 9:30 a.m.
