Missing Paramedic Found Dead in South Carolina, Linked to Fatal Shooting in New Mexico
MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF/Gray News) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the tragic discovery of Phonesia Machado-Fore’s body in Dillon County, South Carolina. Machado-Fore, a missing paramedic, was found deceased on Friday evening. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, according to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley.
Community Mourns Loss
Marion County Sheriff Brian Wallace expressed his condolences, stating, “Mrs. Fore was one of us, a fellow first responder. Her death is senseless. Our community has suffered a tremendous loss. My team and I are committed to bringing the person or persons responsible for her death to justice.”
Machado-Fore was reported missing after she was last seen at her home on Tuesday. Her car was later discovered at the scene of a fatal shooting in New Mexico.
Suspect Wanted in New Mexico
Jaremy Smith, 32, is wanted for multiple charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, as per New Mexico State Police.
Smith’s charges are related to the tragic killing of 35-year-old state police officer Justin Hare on Interstate 40 in New Mexico early Friday morning.
Officer Hare was providing roadside assistance to Smith when he was fatally shot, authorities have confirmed.
