Man Fatally Stabbed in Fall River Rooming House

FALL RIVER, Mass. — Tragedy struck a rooming house in Fall River on Friday night as a man lost his life in a fatal stabbing incident.

At approximately 9:46 p.m. on Friday, law enforcement officers rushed to a residence on the 200 block of Tripp Street following reports of a stabbing during a heated altercation between two residents.

Joseph Bump, 44, was found at the scene with multiple stab wounds and was quickly transported to Saint Anne’s Hospital for urgent medical care. Unfortunately, Bump succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of medical personnel.

The alleged perpetrator, Pedro Fernando Orellano Alvarado, 42, was apprehended on-site and now faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Alvarado is currently in custody and is scheduled for arraignment at Fall River District Court on Monday morning.

A joint investigation into the stabbing incident is underway, with the involvement of State police, Fall River Police, and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
