Suspect in Murder of New Mexico State Police Officer identified

The individual suspected of killing a New Mexico State Police officer has been identified as Jaremy Smith from Marion County, South Carolina. Authorities have linked Smith to the death of South Carolina first responder Phonesia Machado-Fore, whose body was discovered on Friday.

Machado-Fore, who had been reported missing by her family, was found dead in Dillon County, South Carolina. It is believed that Smith was driving her car at the time of the incident involving the New Mexico State Police officer.

Warrants Issued for Smith in Officer’s Murder

Warrants have been issued for Jaremy Smith in connection with the murder of New Mexico State Police Officer Justin Hare. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham confirmed that Hare was fatally shot while responding to a call on Interstate 40 early Friday morning.

An autopsy for Machado-Fore has been scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of her death and gather further evidence in the investigation.
