The Peel Police, who responded to the residential fire, initially reported it as a tragic accident. However, further investigation revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding the blaze. Constable Taryn Young stated that the fire was not accidental, and the authorities are working with the homicide bureau to determine the cause.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing a loud explosion before the fire engulfed the family’s home, adding to the mystery of the incident. Neighbours, like Kenneth Yousaf, recalled the heartbreaking sight of the house being consumed by flames, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake.

After the fire was extinguished, authorities discovered what appeared to be human remains within the burnt structure. Subsequent investigations confirmed the identities of the deceased as Rajiv Warikoo, Shilpa Kotha, and Mahek Warikoo, who were residents of the house.

Rajiv Warikoo, a former volunteer with the Toronto Police, and Mahek Warikoo, a talented young football player with aspirations of securing scholarships at prestigious universities, were remembered fondly by those who knew them.
