Suspect Charged but Still at Large in Houston Shooting Incident

HOUSTON, United Kingdom — Authorities have charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on Lee Road in Houston on the evening of December 27, 2023. The incident resulted in the death of one man, identified as 33-year-old Jahmar Sampson, and left another man, aged 32, injured. The suspect, 30-year-old Roberto Madrigal, faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the 180th State District Court.

Despite the charges, Roberto Madrigal remains at large, prompting law enforcement officials to appeal to the public for any information that may lead to his arrest. The injured victim has been taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries.

Police Investigation

Upon receiving reports of a shooting at a business on Lee Road, Houston Police Department (HPD) officers responded to the scene and discovered two men had been shot by an unknown assailant. Emergency medical services were called, and both victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Jahmar Sampson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical professionals on January 3.

Following an extensive investigation, Roberto Madrigal was identified as the primary suspect in the case. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted, and charges were promptly filed against Madrigal. However, efforts to locate and apprehend him have so far been unsuccessful.
