Eric Rutters, a 43-year-old resident of Saxton, has been charged with criminal damage for allegedly causing $475 worth of damage to a property on Union Street in Liberty Township, Bedford County. According to the state police at Bedford, troopers were called to the residence at around 12:45 a.m. on March 9 following a report of a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, officers discovered damage to the framing around the property’s door, a porch light, and the siding. Rutters is also facing charges of criminal damage for reportedly breaking a doorknob at the same address during a domestic altercation on the evening of March 10. The value of the doorknob was estimated at $20.

Theft of a Motor Vehicle in Carbon Township

A Suzuki Grand Vitara, reported stolen by its owner in Saxton, was found crashed along Henrietta Mountain Road by state police at Bedford. The vehicle had been missing between March 9 and 10. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Bedford barracks on (814) 623-6133.

The home of Shawn Hughes on Church and Main streets in Saxton Borough was burglarized between 4:30 a.m. on February 14 and 3:30 p.m. on February 16. State police at Bedford reported that the residence was significantly damaged, with various items stolen. The total value of the stolen goods was estimated at $9,700, including a Playstation 5, a 65-inch Samsung television set, and several power tools.

Stalking Incident in Newton Hamilton Borough, Mifflin County

State police at Lewistown are investigating a stalking incident after a tracking device was discovered in the engine bay of a 2005 Toyota Prius belonging to a 38-year-old woman from Lewistown. The device was found by a mechanic working on the vehicle along Ferguson Valley Road on the morning of January 30.
