A woman from Natchitoches is currently in police custody after a disturbing incident that left a man from Provencal critically injured. The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that the altercation took place in the early hours of the morning, with the victim sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Authorities were alerted to the situation at around 12:52 am when emergency calls came in regarding a disturbance between a male and female in the 2300 block of DeSoto Street in Provencal. Deputies quickly arrived at the scene to find a 62-year-old man in a dire condition, prompting the dispatch of medical assistance.

The injured man was swiftly transported by Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS to a regional trauma center before being transferred to a facility in south Louisiana, where he remains in critical condition. Meanwhile, investigators began piecing together the events that led to the violent altercation.

It was determined that the disturbance involved Destiny J. Reese, a person known to the victim, who allegedly played a significant role in the incident. Evidence, including a baseball bat, was collected at the scene, pointing towards Reese as the primary perpetrator.

Following an interview at the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, Reese, aged 29, was charged with Aggravated Second Degree Battery and remanded to the parish detention center. Sheriff Stuart Wright emphasised that the investigation is still ongoing, with additional charges pending.
