Man Arrested on Attempted First-Degree Murder Charges After Shooting in Oldsmar

OLDSMAR, Fla. – A man has been taken into custody on attempted first-degree murder charges following a shooting incident at a residence in Oldsmar, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident took place at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Monday at a home on Azalea Court. Authorities identified the suspect as 20-year-old Kemani Wright, who was reportedly seen firing a gun both outside and inside the property.

In addition to the shooting, Wright allegedly stole the homeowner’s 2004 Lexus and fled the scene before law enforcement officers arrived, as per PCSO.

Further Investigation Reveals Disturbing Details

Following the initial response, detectives delved deeper into the incident and discovered that Wright had sent threatening messages to the homeowner, indicating harm towards their child. It was also revealed that the suspect had been dropped off near the residence by a rideshare service shortly before the altercation.

According to authorities, Wright targeted two individuals in the front yard of the property, firing multiple rounds at them. The victims managed to seek refuge inside the house, but Wright pursued them, forcibly entering a bedroom and firing shots into the bathroom where they were hiding.

Fortunately, none of the victims sustained injuries from the gunfire, and law enforcement was able to track down Wright in Marion County with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Service Task Force. The suspect has since been incarcerated at the Marion County Jail.
