TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) — Authorities in Trenton, New Jersey are currently dealing with a tense situation as a man has barricaded himself with hostages in a home after allegedly shooting and killing at least three people in Levittown, Pennsylvania on Saturday morning.

SWAT teams have surrounded the residence where 26-year-old Andre Gordon is believed to be hiding. The exact number of hostages in the home is currently unknown.

Officials are scheduled to provide updates on the shootings and the shelter-in-place alert in Bucks County during a news conference at 2 p.m. ET. The press conference can be watched live in the player above or on any platform streaming CBS News Philadelphia.

Following the incidents on Saturday morning, residents of Falls Township received emergency notifications to shelter-in-place. However, these orders were lifted later in the day as the investigation shifted across the Delaware River to Trenton.

Sources within the police department have described the shootings as domestic-related incidents. Falls Township police stated that the shootings occurred at two separate locations in Levittown, specifically on Edgewood Lane and Viewpoint Lane.

Authorities revealed that following the shootings, Gordon carjacked an individual at a Dollar General store on Bristol Pike in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, and fled the scene in a gray or silver-colored Honda CRV.

Later, a helicopter spotted the said vehicle in Trenton, parked in front of the home where the standoff was unfolding.

Middletown police have disclosed that Gordon has connections to both Bucks County and Trenton.

Earlier on Saturday, Middletown Township police posted on Facebook about multiple shootings in Falls Township with several victims.

“There are several gun shot victims, and at this time, it is unclear whether they were targeted or random,” read the post from Middletown police. “MTPD is monitoring our traffic and borders, and it appears that the shooter has not entered our township limits.”

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick mentioned that law enforcement officers were in pursuit of a suspect and investigating a carjacking associated with the suspect.

A dispatcher in Bucks County confirmed that the shelter-in-place order was still in effect. The Bucks County District Attorney’s office also urged residents to remain in their homes.

The alert issued to residents earlier in the day instructed them to avoid windows and doors and to gather in a central area of their homes while reporting any suspicious activity to 911.

The ongoing investigation has had repercussions on local businesses as Middletown Township police announced the closure of Sesame Place and the Oxford Valley Mall until further notice. Additionally, the Target store and several other establishments in Middletown have chosen to shut down, as per the department’s communication.

The incident has also resulted in the cancellation of the Bucks County St. Patrick’s Day parade, as announced by State Senator Steve Santarsiero on Facebook.

The Pennsbury School District has postponed all activities within the district. Students engaged in activities were promptly escorted indoors.

Superintendent Thomas Smith mentioned in a note on the district website that the Makefield Elementary School play is slated to proceed as planned for the time being.

Governor Josh Shapiro has directed Pennsylvania State Police to assist local law enforcement in their investigation and has reiterated the importance of sheltering in place.

Langhorne police stated that they do not believe the shooter has entered the borough. The department advised against travelling to Falls Township until further notice. “DO NOT travel to Falls Township until further notice,” urged the department.
