Oak Creek Woman Killed in Tragic I-94 Rollover Crash

OAK CREEK, Wis. – A Milwaukee woman tragically lost her life in a rollover crash on Interstate 94 in Oak Creek on Wednesday, March 13th. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Zamra Hughes, leaves behind a devastated family and two young sons.

Earlene Coleman, Hughes’ grandmother, affectionately known as “Muffin,” shared that Hughes was on her way to celebrate her sister’s birthday when the fatal accident occurred. The mangled remains of her vehicle left her family in shock and disbelief.

Describing the heartbreaking scene, Coleman said, “When I saw that car, there was no way she could have survived. It’s a tragedy that no family member was there to comfort her in her final moments.”

The Oak Creek Fire Department responded to the crash around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, where Hughes was ejected from her vehicle, resulting in her untimely death.

Zamuria Hughes, one of Zamra’s younger twin sisters, expressed the pain of losing her sibling on her own birthday. “I lost my sister on my birthday. My heart hasn’t been the same since I heard the news,” she tearfully shared.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash and believes that speed played a significant role in the tragic incident. Coleman emphasized the importance of understanding what happened for the sake of Hughes’ sons.

In response to the devastating loss, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to support Hughes’ children during this difficult time.

Authorities found a second vehicle a quarter mile from the crash site, but the driver declined medical attention. The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office temporarily closed all northbound lanes of the interstate at Drexel Avenue following the accident.

As the investigation continues, Hughes’ family and loved ones are grappling with the harsh reality of life without her. Zamuria Hughes urged drivers to exercise caution and slow down on the roads, reminding everyone that tragedy can strike unexpectedly.
