Accident – Death – Obituary News : SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a San Diego man in East Village last month. Tashaughn Jackson, 44, was taken into custody on Thursday morning during a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 8 near the Main St. exit in El Cajon, according to Lt. Daniel Meyer of the San Diego Police Department.

The incident took place on February 18 around 3:05 p.m. in the 600 block of 16th St. Officers responded to a report of a man with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk in front of an apartment building. The victim, identified as 43-year-old Ali Jabbar, was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Authorities believe that the victim was walking with a group in the area when the suspect approached and opened fire, targeting the victim specifically. Lt. Meyer stated, “It does appear the suspect intentionally targeted the victim and not the people around him.” The suspect managed to flee the scene and drive away northbound before heading eastbound towards state Route 94.
