Paramedical Student Found Dead in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh

A tragic incident unfolded in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, as the lifeless body of a paramedical student was discovered by the roadside. The victim, identified as Priya Mishra, was a dedicated student pursuing the Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) programme at Saifai Medical College in Etawah.

Mishra’s body was found in a pool of blood near the Sonai river bridge, approximately 10 kilometres away from the college campus. The shocking discovery sent shockwaves through the college and the local community. Initial investigations by the police indicated foul play, with suspicions that Mishra had either been attacked with a sharp weapon on her neck or shot at close range.

Outcry and Investigation

Following the discovery of Mishra’s body, nearly 1,000 students from Saifai Medical College gathered outside the trauma centre to protest against the heinous crime. Authorities swiftly launched an investigation and registered a case against two suspects, promising to bring them to justice.

As the investigation into Mishra’s death continues, a panel of medical experts is conducting a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Additionally, CCTV footage from the area is being scrutinised to shed light on the circumstances leading to Priya’s untimely demise.

Political figures have weighed in on the tragic incident, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav holding the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government accountable for the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav called for a thorough investigation into the matter, emphasising the need for justice and accountability.

Yadav expressed his concerns, stating, “The death of a student under suspicious circumstances at Saifai University is a matter of grave concern. This highlights the failure of the declared zero-tolerance policy against crime, particularly during the tenure of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh. A judicial inquiry into this alleged murder is imperative to unveil the truth.”
