Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Marlboro County

Marlboro County, S.C. (WMBF) – Tragedy struck in Marlboro County late Thursday night as a pedestrian lost their life after being hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of S.C. 9 and Dupree Road.

Lance Corporal Nick Pye of the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that a 2010 Jeep SUV travelling northbound collided with the pedestrian while they were crossing the highway. Thankfully, the driver of the Jeep emerged unscathed and was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

As of Friday afternoon, the identity of the pedestrian has not been disclosed. Authorities are working diligently to notify the next of kin before releasing any further information to the public.
