Woman Charged in Connection with Minnesota Shooting Tragedy

(CNN) — Authorities in Minnesota have charged a woman in connection with a tragic shooting incident that took the lives of three first responders last month. Ashley Anne Dyrdahl, 35, is facing charges for allegedly purchasing guns for her partner, Shannon Gooden, who used them during the armed standoff in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place at the couple’s home in Burnsville on February 18. Gooden barricaded himself inside the house with his family, which included seven children, and opened fire on first responders who arrived at the scene. Tragically, two police officers and a firefighter lost their lives in the line of duty.
Gooden, who was legally prohibited from owning firearms due to a prior felony conviction, also perished in the incident. Fortunately, the children, aged 2 to 15, were able to safely exit the home while authorities dealt with the situation.
Legal Ramifications
US Attorney Andrew Luger addressed the media, expressing the need for accountability in the case. Dyrdahl, who was aware of Gooden’s felony status, allegedly purchased five firearms on his behalf between September 2023 and January 2024. She now faces charges of conspiracy, straw purchasing, and making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.
