In a disturbing discovery, a woman’s body was found inside a bag in an apartment in Manhattan on Thursday. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which took place at 206 E. 31st St.
The Unfortunate Discovery
Police were called to the scene following a wellness check, prompted by concerns from the woman’s family members who were unable to access the apartment. Upon arrival, the family, along with the building superintendent, made the grisly discovery of the woman’s body stuffed in a bag.

The Victim
The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Nadia Vitel. It remains unclear whether there was any trauma to her body or if there was forced entry into the apartment. The Office of The Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death as the investigation continues.
