Bhubaneswar Man Arrested for Murdering Wife and Hiding Corpse

The Maitri Vihar Police in Bhubaneswar have apprehended a man named Gourab Jena for the alleged murder of his wife. The horrific incident took place in their residence where Gourab reportedly used a wooden plank to fatally injure his wife. To avoid detection, he then concealed her body at home for three days.

Gourab Jena, a resident of Ganjam district, lived with his wife and three children in Tarini slums. The family’s living situation was challenging, with Gourab and his wife working as construction labourers and struggling with alcohol addiction.

Discovery of the Crime

The crime came to light when neighbours noticed a foul odour emanating from the Jena residence. Concerned, they alerted the authorities, prompting the police to investigate. Upon entering the hutment, officers discovered the lifeless body of Gourab’s wife, leading to his immediate arrest.

According to IIC Maitri Vihar Police Station Mrutyunjay Swain, Gourab attempted to conceal his heinous act by sending his two younger children to stay with a neighbour while his eldest son was away in their native village. It was revealed that the fatal altercation occurred after Gourab returned home intoxicated and engaged in a quarrel with his wife, resulting in the tragic outcome.

Legal Proceedings

Gourab Jena has been charged under IPC Section 302 for the murder of his wife. Following his arrest, he was presented before a court for remand as the investigation into the case continues. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that justice is served in this harrowing incident.
