Shocking Incident in Bhubaneswar: Man Allegedly Beats Wife to Death

In a disturbing turn of events, a man in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, has been accused of beating his wife to death with a wooden plank and then living with her dead body for two days. The incident, which took place in Tarini Nagar locality of Salia Sahi under Maitri Vihar Police Station limits, has sent shockwaves through the community.

The victim, identified as Reena Jena, was allegedly killed by her husband, Golakh Jena, following a heated argument fueled by alcohol consumption. The couple, who worked as daily wage laborers, had three children together.

Neighbors Discover Foul Smell

The gruesome incident came to light when neighbors noticed a foul smell emanating from the couple’s residence on Thursday, March 14. Concerned by the odour, they alerted the authorities, leading to the discovery of Reena Jena’s lifeless body inside the house.

Upon investigation, the police found that Golakh Jena had confessed to the crime during interrogation. The accused admitted to fatally assaulting his wife and then keeping her body hidden in their home.

Gang of Dacoits Busted in Bhubaneswar

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the Infocity Police Station in Bhubaneswar successfully dismantled a gang of dacoits who were reportedly planning to carry out a robbery in the city. The group, consisting of five members, had a history of criminal activities.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar, one of the gang members had been involved in 48 cases, while the others had a combined total of 17 cases registered against them in various police stations. The police managed to seize sharp weapons and incriminating evidence from the suspects.

These recent incidents serve as a stark reminder of the prevalence of crime in society and the importance of vigilance and prompt action by law enforcement authorities. The community is urged to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the police to maintain safety and security.
