Chandigarh: In the wake of the eighth murder reported in the city since the beginning of the year, a 20-year-old man from Burail was tragically found dead in a Sector 44 park on Thursday. The victim, identified as Jatinder, also known as Jeetu or Lara, was known to be addicted to drugs and worked as a daily wage labourer. Police revealed that there were injury marks around the victim’s neck, indicating that he had been strangled.

According to reports, a passerby discovered Jatinder lying unconscious near a temple in Sector 44 and promptly alerted the police around 6:45 am. Upon their arrival, Jatinder was rushed to GMCH-32 where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then taken to the mortuary for a detailed autopsy.

Authorities, including the DSP south division and the CFSL team, visited the crime scene to collect evidence. While the initial findings point towards strangulation as the cause of death, the official autopsy report will provide more clarity on the matter.

It has been revealed that CCTV footage captured Jatinder in the company of another individual near the location where his body was found. Police are now on the lookout for this person in connection with the case. DSP Dalbir Singh Bhinder confirmed that a murder case has been registered against unidentified individuals.
